Tibetan Sound Experience with Kalden Kho

Enjoy a sound ritual, rest and resonate with Kalden Kho, a traditional Tibetan Sowa. Allow sound to help you regain your ideal vibration, leading to a more balanced state - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Kalden Kho, a traditional Tibetan Sowa, draws on his traditional Tibetan background, using chanting and a variety of traditional Tibetan healing instruments. As well, Kalden weaves his knowledge of Tibetan astrology and the current astrological configurations with the medicine of sound.

Everything in the universe - from subatomic particles to the largest planet - is constantly moving, vibrating. We are no exception. And, like an exquisite musical instrument, when we are “out of tune,” the music of our life is not harmonious. Rest, resonate, and cultivate a wave of harmony, love and kindness together.

Tibetan astrology has existed for thousands of years and continues to play an important role in Tibetan culture. An astrologer is frequently consulted for guidance on personal relationships, a child’s birth, major life decisions, and determining whether negative karma from a past life may be impacting one's current circumstances. Kalden began his studies in Tibetan astrology as a young monk and brings decades of experience to his practice. He provides essential guidance in identifying and counteracting negative influences to help improve one's path.

Kalden Kho : Originally from eastern Tibet, Kalden Kho, a Tibeten Sowa, brings a wealth of Tibetan cultural and spiritual background to his sound work, breath work and astrology offerings. He became a monk at the age of 5 and continued his monastic studies until the age of 23, when he completed a three year retreat. He subsequently escaped to India in the winter of 2000 and joined his Tibetan community in exile, under His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. He moved to the U.S. 10 years ago. Throughout his journeys across the U.S, he has come to meet people from all walks of life. He has discovered that people more and more are seeking connection and a sense of serenity as a way to offset the stress and isolation of modern lifestyles. Despite missing his home and the deep sense of community that flourished in his country of birth, Kalden’s wish is to use his talents to create something of similar value here. He seeks to provide an experience that reflects the qualities of Tibetan cultural tradition, while also forging an innovative path forward.

Yoga Workshop with Beth Lefebvre

In this workshop she will also explore ancient Ayurvedic wisdom for living well with scoliosis, including lifestyle, nutrition, and practices to balance mind and nervous system.

Her goal in this workshop is to help participants better understand their own curves and learn simple, practices they can use daily to support comfort and ease in the spine.

Beth Lefebvre has lived with scoliosis since childhood. After injuring her back as a young girl, she was formally diagnosed with scoliosis at age 12. For most of her life, she was comfortable in her body and paid little attention to her curves—until her 40s, when her lumbar spine began causing pain and repeatedly “going out” during yoga practice. These episodes could keep her away from yoga for weeks at a time. Wanting to understand her own body and learn how to practice without hurting herself is what led Beth to become an IAYT Yoga Therapist.

Now, in her 60s, as her spine has changed and she has lost two inches in height, she has come to understand her scoliosis in a much deeper way. Over the past five months, she has been training with Elise Browning Miller in Iyengar Yoga for Scoliosis, including a recent week-long teacher training intensive. She has found these methods to be integral to maintaining a strong, healthy spine and comfort in her body.

Her hope is that participants leave with a clearer understanding of their spine, simple tools for daily support, and greater confidence in living comfortably with their curves.

Early bird $35

Starting 9/16 $45

Beth Lefebvre “The first time I stepped onto a yoga mat was like coming home: I felt a deep connection to myself…and to something deeper. Yoga saved my life: it is powerful medicine for healing and pain relief; it is my physical therapy; it is my connection to myself; it is my connection with the infinite. Yoga keeps me real and preserves my sanity. Yoga helped me work through chronic pain of fibromyalgia and sciatica, and keeps my scoliosis in check. Yoga was the medicine that rehabilitated my body after a serious ski fall that unhinged my knee, tore multiple ligaments, and torqued the right side of my body from my sacrum to my ankle. Yoga therapy rehabilitated my body and mind: allowing me to walk with ease, and put me back on the mountain skiing and hiking; living mostly pain free, loving my body, loving life. Yoga keeps me strong and resilient. Yoga brings me home. And your body is your first home!”

IAYT Yoga Therapist, Bowenwork practitioner, Ayurveda Wellness coach and practitioner in training.
